More PvP Achievements: Warsong Gulch

Since a lot of what I've been doing lately is PvP, you guys get to hear me blab on and on about all the different achievements. Yesterday and today, I'm PvPing on Fari to work on some more of my achievements, and one of the most exciting BG's I was in yesterday was actually the one I hate the most: Warsong Gulch.

Basics of Warsong Gulch. Warsong Gulch is a 10v10 battleground that is capture-the-flag style. In short, you have to capture the flag. You capture a flag, you get a point. There are three ways to win: Your team gets three points, you have more points when the 25 minute timer runs out, or, in the case of a tie (that's not 0-0), your team is the last one to have captured the flag. Keep people with your flag carrier, send people to kill the enemy flag carrier, you win.

Master of Warsong Gulch. The meta achievement for WSG, it requires all of the following achievements except the Silverwing Sentinels/Warsong Outriders reputation achievement to get.

Warsong Gulch Victory/Warsong Gulch Veteran. It takes awhile, friends. A long, long while. Especially if you, like me, play Alliance side and have some difficulty getting wins.

Fari's Hot Tip: Queue up a lot when it's WSG weekend. This is my tip for any BG "Veteran" achievement, really. More people will be playing, there's more of a chance of you winning, and you still get all the perks as if you were queuing up for a random BG. To see when these different weekends are, go into your calendar on WoW, go to Filters, and make sure "Battleground Call to Arms" is checked. Then, ta-da! It's on your calendar.

Save the Day/Persistent Defender/Frenzied Defender/Not in my House/Supreme Defender. Yes, I put all 5 of these together. Why? Because they all involve you beating the crap out of people and getting the flag back, which you should be doing anyway. Lots of killing, lots of flag returning, lots of profit.

Fari's Hot Tips: Go a little on the defensive when you want to do Not in my House. Don't stay up there initially, but go up there after the other team has capped the flag or is floundering a bit. You'll rarely see one person go in alone on the first round of flag capping, but then you'll get the stragglers. Those flag caps will count toward Frenzied Defender too. Then, continue to kill and send the flag back. You'll get it! For Save the Day, make sure you're staying up in and around their base instead. Also, wait for Children's Week to rack up some of these kills... squishy non-PvPers will abound.

Capture the Flag/Iron Man/Quick Cap. Can I tell you, Iron Man makes me crazy. Capping the flag once is one thing. Three times in one battle? That's a task. The worst part? I GOT IT ONCE. But for some reason, my achievement tracker said "No U" and it didn't count, and Blizzard couldn't give it to me. It broke my heart... I got it on my shaman. But no proof. Sad, sad me.

Fari's Hot Tip. Take five of your friends to PvP that know what they're doing. Make sure someone's a healer. Maybe even two of them. Then, have that be your rush team for getting the flag. Let it be known that you are going for the achievement at the beginning of the BG (since the other 5 players will not be your guildies/friends) and then just go for it. It may take a few tries, but eventually, you'll get it. Ideal classes: ones that have speed boosts: rogues, druids, DK's, paladins, and sometimes hunters.

Silverwing Sentinel/Warsong Outrider. These take a really, really long time. I've been PvPing on Fari for a couple of years now and am still neutral with this faction. I guess there was a time that this was easier, but not anymore!

Fari's Hot Tip: Keep going. And going. Just like with the Warsong Gulch Veteran and any Veteran achievements, take advantage of the battleground holiday weekends.

Do you have any other tips or hints about getting Warsong Gulch? Share some thoughts in the comments, have a great day, and we'll see you back here on Monday.

Well met!
