Rambling about Mounts...

First, keep me in your thoughts, prayers, or whatever else you do or think until I get some stuff straightened out. As of this weekend, I have virtually no income and need to figure out how I'm going to make ends meet by March. It's not a fun spot to be in, but I have faith I'll be alright.

Now back to our regularly scheduled Fari-rant.

I really liked Pokemon as a kid. Have I mentioned that before? I don't remember. Anyway, I loved Pokemon. I kept playing all the way up to Silver and Gold, where there were 251 Pokemon (and yes, I had every single one. I truly did Catch'em all).

But anyway, I've always been a huge pet and mount collector. I ran all of the old stuff, all of the time (sadly, I never got the mounts out of Zul'Aman or Zul'Gurub before they changed them. /grumbles). I still run old stuff on occasion, but it's not as much as I used to, because I have a lot of the mounts.

I was really excited when I saw that they were adding in a 150 mount achievement in 5.1. Why? Because, when it was announced, I already had around 160 mounts. Free achievement and free mount as soon as 5.1 hit? YES PLEASE.

Here are some of my very, very favorite mounts from the game... yes, I use all of them, due to what is probably my favorite add-on, GupPet. It adds a button to your interface that allows you to mount a random mount (there's another button with it that summons a random pet too).

Today, your mounts are being showcased by my level 90 feral/guardian druid, Veliya. Only because I'm waiting to run LFR as I write this.

The Flameward Hippogryph. Yes, I know it's not really a special snowflake, a lot of people have them, but I love the model. I've always liked firey-type things, and the hippogryph model is one of my favorite mount models in the game. I was excited to get this on Fari, and then it became account wide in 5.0? AMAZING.

Yes, I know this isn't Velly, I'm using an old picture I already had. I absolutely love the Azure Water Strider from the Anglers' reputation. It's a really neat model, and I'm so happy that we finally got a mount that can walk on water. Took long enough, right?

Another mount that I absolutely love is the Blue Shado-Pan Riding Tiger. This has jumped to the top as my favorite ground mount ever. The armor goes really well with the cat color, I love the way the armor is, and it's just a really, really nice mount. I don't really like the other two, do to their strange color combinations, but I think this is just a really classy, nice ground mount.

Talbuks. Yes, I'm kicking it all the way back to The Burning Crusade in order to show you what I think is a great mount model: the Talbuk. I have absolutely no idea why I like them so much; whether it's the way it looks or the way my characters look on it, I have no idea. But, they're pretty. The one shown here is the Dark Riding Talbuk, one of the two Talbuk you get from collecting Halaa Battle Tokens and Halaa Research Tokens. With CRZ, I really should try and get groups together to get the other one. Oh well, eventually.

Back to Pandaria to what I think is the cutest mount... yes, yes friends... that's the Blonde Riding Yak. Yes, Night Elves look silly on them, but Dwarves and Pandaren look pretty cool. And their running animation looks absolutely hilarious. When I ride my yak, I will often say in Vent "Yakyakyakyakyak." Say it quickly while they're running. It's absolutely hilarious.

Side note: I've been in LFR a really long time. WHERE ARE YOU HEALERS?

Back to mounts. Two more and I'm done ranting, I promise.

One of my favorite flying models is actually the proto-drake. I know that sounds silly; they are a very derpy looking creature that doesn't necessarily emanate "pretty," but I like them none-the-less. My favorite Proto-drake is actually the Rusted Proto-Drake, earned by getting the achievement Glory of the Ulduar Raider (10-Man). I earned it during Cataclysm, but it's probably even easier to get now.

Last, but not least, a Hordeside mount, modeled by my Tauren Druid, Bloodheart. This is the Spectral Wolf from Tol Barad. I had the Spectral Steed Ally side, and when mounts went account wide, I got this beauty. I've always really liked the Riding Wolf model, so getting this was amazing. Love it, love it, love it.

What are your favorite mounts? Do you have one you always use, or do you jump between them like I do? Talk to me, share some thoughts, and we'll see you back here next time!

Well Met!
Fari
