First Impressions of 5.2

So, 5.2 has been out for almost a week now, and I've had plenty of time in the past week to check it out and mess around with it.

First, some general thoughts. I really am enjoying it. Like, not just kinda. I like 5.2 a lot. It's bringing some good stuff to the game and I'm having a lot of fun doing it. I can't wait for LFR to start up next week. Well, maybe I can. If it really is the same mechanics this may be a bit... annoying, at first. Oh well.

And, an update to this post, where I talked about what I was looking forward to:

The advancement in the storyline. Well, to be honest, I haven't seen a lot of this yet. I was disappointed when I hit honored the other day and there wasn't a quest. Blizzard isn't doing as well with the story as they did in 5.1, in my opinion. Maybe it'll be different when the next part of the island opens up (for my server, that's going to be today). On the other hand, I really like the dailies. They're simple, not too crazy, and relatively quick.

Pet Battles. The epic pet battles disappointed me beyond belief. They weren't really epic. I kill most of them with my Sprite Darter with Life Exchange and then a pet of the appropriate type to beat the type of the pet. Really, it's sad. I did get a cute Red Panda though. Yes, that's in the cave where Alliance starts AV.

I do, on the other hand, love that I get XP on my lower level toons for pet battles. I didn't get to abuse it too much when it was scaled wrong, but I did a little. I also really like the new pet models. The new raptors? Love them. Check it out. So cute. I've also liked that I get a crapton of the Lesser Charms of Good Fortune when I do pet battles on Fari.

Throne of Thunder. Haven't been able to get in LFR yet, of course, but I am excited to check it out.

Dinosaurs. I haven't gotten onto the Isle of Giants much yet, but I'm excited to. I went up there and tried to kill stuff... and remembered my kiting skills aren't up to snuff on my warrior. I do much better on my monk and my mage; they just don't have the firepower to do it yet. It works better with a group anyway... just have to convince a group of my friends to come with me.

Taking over the farm. I love this. The work orders plus the commendations and daily rep gain make it so much easier to gear alts. So much easier, it makes me so happy. I've been working on my mage's reputations so that I can get the bag pattern from August Celestials exalted. I was somewhere in friendly for Golden Lotus on her, so I did 3 days of dailies, 3 days of daily dungeons, 3 days of daily scenarios and 4 days of planting for Golden Lotus, and I was revered. I'm almost friendly with the August Celestials on day 2 of planting plus one scenario bonus. It's absolutely awesome.

Dem Satchels. I haven't done a lot of 5.0 LFR's since the patch, just trying to get my stupid chestpiece for my T14 4-piece. I have heard of people getting all kinds of crazy stuff. I'll probably run LFR today to try one more time before I jump into Throne of Thunder. Woot. Anyway, people have gotten a lot of cool mounts, pets, consumables, everything, and it's pretty great. I have yet to get something, but my day, it will come. I think it was a good idea for them to throw that in, to give people incentive to run LFR week after week.

What have you enjoyed about 5.2 thus far? Is there anything you were surprised that you are enjoying? How far along is your server in Isle of Thunder progress? Share some thoughts in the comments, have a great day, and we'll see you back here later this week.

Well Met!
Fari
